Facial Exercises to Get Rid of Chubby Cheeks

Facial work outs have become quite popular as an alternative to expensive facial creams for fine lines and wrinkles and for even more expensive surgery. Some people are finding that facial exercises can also help to lose cheek fat and to help get rid of chubby cheeks.

In some cases chubby cheeks may be an hereditary facial feature and if so there is probably little benefit that can be gained from facial exercises. Facial work-outs will also have little benefit if excess weight is a problem over the entire body. In these cases following a healthier diet and an exercise regimen will be much more beneficial.

Do Facial Exercises Work?

The face has over 40 muscles. Facial exercises for fat cheeks work on the principle that these muscles can be toned and tightened, as any other body muscle can be, by exercise.

There are many people that claim facial exercises are pointless and of no benefit whatsoever. Many of these claims come from those in the cosmetic surgery industry and the beauty industry supplying cosmetics, lotions and creams. The jury is out on this one so perhaps the best way to find out if there is any benefit, is to try the exercises for yourself and be your own judge.

-Exercise 1 -

Shut your eyes up really tightly and be aware of lifting your cheeks as high as you can. Hold in this position for a count of ten seconds and repeat several times.

- Exercise 2 -

Close your lips together and inflate your mouth with air so that your cheeks puff out and your upper lip. Move the air from one cheek, over the upper teeth and into the other cheek as slowly as you can. Then reverse this so in effect you are moving the air from cheek to cheek. Repeat several times.

- Exercise 3 -

Tick your chin in tight to your chest. Using your fingers on each hand pull the skin from just under your cheekbones to just over your cheek bones. Open your mouth as wide as you can and hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times.

- Exercise 4 -

Suck in your cheeks and purse your lips at the same time. Hold for a few seconds and then puff out your cheeks as far as they will go. Repeat several times.

As with all exercise routines it is good to set yourself a time for practicing them and sticking to it until it becomes habit. Doing facial exercises will help to increase circulation and improve oxygen supply to the facial area so even if there is no other benefit you may notice healthier skin.

Facial exercises that help to get rid of chubby cheeks will show gradual results rather than overnight effects, so be patient.
