Easy Homemade Spa Treatment Recipes

Everyone deserves to pamper themselves every once in a while, unfortunately a spa day at an actual spa can put quite the dent in your bank account. Thankfully there are many easy homemade spa treatment recipes that are economical and very effective. Grab your fluffy robe and bunny slippers and get ready to pamper yourself.

Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Sugar scrubs are well known for softening the skin and can be easily made at home. All you need is some brown sugar (white sugar can work too) and almond oil. Mix the two together and rub into your skin in a circular pattern. If you want to additional luxury add some vanilla extract, lavender essential oil or orange essential oil. For additional skin benefits add some Vitamin E oil or Aloe Vera gel.

Sea Salt Foot Scrub

You can make a sea salt foot scrub very similarly to how you make a brown sugar body scrub. If you don’t want to use almond oil substitute it for baby oil. The addition of peppermint essential oil will add a cooling and deodorizing effect. You can also add a bit of cornmeal or ground oats for additional exfoliation. This is great to do before a paraffin treatment to really enjoy soft feet.

Deep Conditioning Hot Oil Hair Treatment

Oiling your hair has been a practice used for centuries to keep hair nourished and beautiful, but in our hectic lives we no longer take the time to pamper our hair. Pour a bit of olive oil or coconut oil into a cup and place the cup in a bowl of hot water until the oil is warmed. Pour oil over hair, massaging it into your scalp. Then wrap your hair in some saran wrap or a shower cap and leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Paraffin Hand or Foot Treatment

Paraffin is used to soften and improve skin’s appearance. You can get food grade paraffin at most grocery stores. Melt the paraffin in a double boiler. While it is melting, lightly oil the inside of a container large enough to fit your flat hand and massage the excess oil into your hand or foot. Pour the melted paraffin into the container and let it cool until a thick skin forms over the top. Dip your hand in to coat it in wax. The wax should harden shortly after you bring your hand out. Leave the wax one for 10 to 15 minutes and then peel off.

Nourishing Face Mask

A regular face mask can help maintain clear, healthy skin. This nourishing face mask is easy to make with only three ingredients. You’ll need some natural plain yogurt, ground oatmeal, and honey. Grind about a ½ cup of oatmeal in a blender or food processor.  Mix ground oats with about a ¼ cup yogurt and a good dollop or two of honey. Spread on your freshly washed face and leave for 10 to 15 min. Wash off with warm water and pat dry.

Aromatherapy Shower

You’ll need to shower off after many of these spa treatments, so give your shower a bit of luxury as well. Place a few drops of an essential oil in the corners of your shower for a complete sensory experience as you shower. Lavender is relaxing, citrus is invigorating, jasmine is sensual and so on. Pick a scent that supports the mood you are working to create.

Milk Bath

At the end of the treatments, you might want to relax in a warm bath to savor the pampering you’ve given yourself. A milk bath is very moisturizing for your skin and is easy to create. When you draw your bath either add a couple cups of milk or powdered milk and mix well. You can add a few drops of essential oil for additional benefits as well.
