How to Get Butter Stains Out of Clothing
It’s early in the morning, you are rushing to leave the house and decide to have some toast. Having franticly decided what to wear and running out of time, you decide it is a good idea to eat your breakfast on the way. As you pick up your buttered toast, you drop it…Of course it lands buttered side down, and guess what, it lands on the front of your chosen item of clothing, grrrrrrrrrrr!
You are now have two options, leave the house with a huge butter stain on your shirt, or go back and change clothes making you late. Not only are you irritated at the morning’s events, but you are wondering: “How in the world will I get this butter stain out?”
How to Get Butter Stains Out of Clothing?
Love corn on the cob? Then at some point you have probably wondered how to get butter stains out of clothing and are familiar with that grey, stubborn stain.
The good news is, you can make that greasy butter stain disappear from your clothes with the following methods:
Stain Remover Method
- Remove any excess butter using a knife or spoon
- Buy a pre- wash stain remover and apply to both sides of the fabric, allow it to soak in for about 15-20 minutes.
- Wash your item of clothing as normal.
This should work however in my experience pre- wash stain removers don’t always do the job. Depending on the fabric, the time between noticing the stain and getting it out and which pre-wash stain remover is applied, results may vary. Often this is a matter of trial and error.
So if you have been battling with a butter stain and can’t seem to get rid of it, you might want to try some of these slightly more creative methods.
Shampoo
Shampoo works by lifting oil out of hair, so in a similar manner this also works on clothes, yey!
- Get rid of any excess butter, and gently rub the shampoo on to the stain
- Finnish of by putting your item of clothing in the wash as usual
Washing Up Liquid
It gets rid of grease from your dishes, so it will do wonders for you butter stained clot!
- As above, use a clean cloth or you fingers to rub on the washing up liquid on both sided of the fabric.
- Wash as usual
Salt
Good old salt is known for lifting red wine stains, but it also works on butter by drawing out the grease from the fabric
- Apply straight away and leave for 5 minutes
- Wash as usual
Soda Crystals
Just add this to your normal washing powder in the washing machine
Job done!
Armed with these methods, you will never wonder how to get butter stains out of clothing again! Enjoy the lovely melted butter on your corn on the cob, spread the butter on your toast, and drown your baked potato in butter! You clothes needn’t suffer even if you fall victim to annoying butter accidents.
