How To Live A Life Of Effortless Ease
What we desire most is the state of rest and relaxation. We want to become millionaires so that, finally, we can stop worrying about financial troubles, and earning a livelihood, and settle down peacefully in our villa facing the sea.
If you look carefully, behind all your desires is the root desire to be “relaxed”. You want that perfect relationship so that you can finally stop searching for that ideal partner. You want that luxurious house so you can relish the relaxation of sitting by the pool side and enjoying the sunshine. You want that exquisite holiday so you can finally get to rest your mind. Unconsciously, we are always simply searching for rest and relaxation.
Look at the nature around you, and ask yourself what is the most evident “nature” of this nature. The trees are at rest, their leaves sway with the breeze with no inherent effort involved. There is a deeper intelligence guiding the growth of the plants, and effortlessness seems to be its nature. The animals around you are moving around aimlessly, grazing or feeding every now and then. They don’t seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. The cat lolls most of the time, the dog is effortlessly enthusiastic in its playfulness, the cows keep grazing lazily and the ants seem to be working effortlessly with great coordination.
Nature is always active and in movement, but there is an effortlessness in the midst of the activity. You can easily perceive this effortless state of activity inherent in animals, birds, plants and other living organisms. Now shift your attention to any human being in your vicinity, and ask yourself if you can sense this “effortlessness” in his/her activity. When a human being is at work, there is strain and tension, there is a need to get somewhere and accomplish something, there is a need to make money and mostly there is a need for approval.
Activity need not imply effort; nature is a living proof of this truth. A seed, growing in a huge oak tree, does not put in any effort but the activity of growth continues. Effort always implies some form of friction. Human beings are the only species in nature in whom effort can be perceived. Everything else in nature is completely effortless even in the midst of severe activity.
We are most happy when we are in deep sleep. It is evidenced by the fact that we feel refreshed and relaxed after a night of undisturbed sleep. But our waking state is chaotic and restless; many people dread getting out of their bed and facing another grueling day of work and activity. Deep down we know something is missing and this is not the life we were naturally supposed to live.
The calling is on the wall. Most humans have reached a point where their consciousness is awakened enough to realize that there something “unnatural” about the way they are living. There is a deep longing within us to return home to our true nature. The good news is that the very presence of this intuition opens the portal for us to realize our natural state of being. The hallmark of our true nature is effortlessness and this deep longing within us for relaxation is the pull of towards living the truth of who we are.
If you are truly fed up with your life as it is right now then you are ready for the truth because you have realized that the way you are living is dysfunctional. Life is not a dreadful nightmare, but a playful celebration. If you are not in awe with every moment of your life, then you have missed it completely. You can only enjoy life when you realize your true nature; you already have the most important portal towards realizing your true nature, your longing for relaxation and effortlessness.
