Youtube sensation Shane Dawson who has millions of followers on Youtube and has an extremely fit body today was once extremely obese. It’s hard to believe but he shed a massive 150 pounds which is amazing. To shed so much weight takes a whole lot of gut and determination. In addition to that it also takes a major diet change. So how did he do it? How did Shane Dawson lose so much weight in such a little time? Let’s hear it from Shane Dawson himself.

How Did Shane Dawson Loose so much weight?

Shane was asked this question by one of his fans during a Youtube celebrity meet known as Vidcon. The question asked was ‘How did you lose weight and how do you stay so fit?’

And the answer Shane gave was this:

As most of you guys know, I lost a 150 pounds, that’s the only reason I had a job at Jenny Craig. I think honestly, losing weight is about eating less and exercise but I think it’s more of a mental situation.

For me it was, because I was always an emotional eater. But then I started making Youtube videos and I was putting so much effort into it that I just stopped thinking about it (that I was over weight) and I was kind of putting my emotions in the right place; a creative place. I mean just do something you really like doing instead of focusing on negative things.

This is exactly what Shane Dawson told when he was asked the question on how he lost weight so fast.

How Can I Lose Weight like Shane Dawson?

You can lose weight just like Shane Dawson did by following these simple steps:

1.) Channel Your Energy in the Right Direction: As Shane said, stop focusing your energies on thinking negatively about your body image. Stop worrying and get your creative juices flowing. Stop thinking that you are over-weight and instead start focusing your energy on the right things. In other words, stop fretting and start enjoying your life.

Connect with people who share similar passions. Listen to your favorite music, paint, dance, take up gardening, travel, enjoy nature. In other words, just let go of your hidden fears about your body image and start enjoying what is out there.

2.) Breathe Consciously: This is a great way to channel your energies in the right direction. This will also help you turn down your negative energies and convert them into positive energy. And finally breathing consciously will also fire up your metabolism. So how to breath consciously? It’s very simple, take a deep breath so your belly inflates; now release the breath slowly so that your exhaling is 2 seconds longer than the inhaling. So if you inhaled for 5 seconds, exhale slowly so it reaches 7 seconds.

Breathing consciously will help you fire up your metabolism and help you channel your energies in the right direction.

3.) Eat Right: Once you become a conscious being, you will no longer be an emotional eater. You will automatically stop eating things that are bad for your health. This happens automatically, once you become conscious. Your body will be attracted to healthy foods like veggies and fruits instead of junk stuff.

4.) Exercise: Shane goes to the gym everyday. In-fact if you watch his videos carefully, there are many videos in which he says that it’s time to go to the gym. If you don’t like going to the gym, do simple exercises at home. Once you start to shed weight, join a gym. Don’t worry about what other people think or say. Just enjoy your gym going experience and you will no longer be bothered by any negative thoughts.

This is what Shane does. And this is clearly reflected in his videos. He enjoys everything he does and is not the least bothered about what people think of him. And this is also one of the reasons why we love Shane Dawson so much.

  1. I am 12 years old and I am 220lbs and i get bullied and made fun of because I am over weight (obese) I stopped drinking pop, eating potatos, and fattening foods.. No one would like to be obese… I wake up every morning, struggling to get up because of my size… I am trying to lose it…. My parents believe i can do it if i try…. (Which i plan on doing for now on) i plan on trying to lose 60lbs… Don’t know how long that will take but… Ill do my best.

I am 15 years old and at least a little over 200 lbs(losing it!) and to be honest, my daily life consists of an overly-emotional mom that constantly tells me that I am going to die because of my weight. And I really believe that if I gain another 50 lbs that I am most likely going to get at least a little sicker. So I do not plan on gaining any more weight at all. I AM going to lose 50 lbs in the next year or two because I really don’t want to waste my life away caring about such a thing as weight. I mean, who wants to care about such a thing while in high school? No one. I doubt that Shane wanted to spend all of high school obese either. But honestly, I understand what he’s trying to say. Focus on the more important things in life! And right now, for me, that’s school and art. (Going to add in a few activities such as tennis! Yay!) so I will definitely take his advice and use it!   3. It’s so obvious he had a gastric bypass and his latest was just a tummy tuck in order to remove his excess skin. I mean he’s not lying about the way he lost the weight after a bypass you can only eat so much and such but I truly believe he’s not telling the whole truth.

  5. Shane did lose a lot of weight, but he also has mentioned many a times that he has some health related issues like IBS. Not sure if it has anything to do with the weight lose technique he followed.

  6. I love Shane Dawson but I tried all of these and none of them work. I only lost a pound and that took two months and I keep doing it 🙁
