List of Good Slow Relaxing Songs

Often times our lives are packed so full of activities and things needing to be done, that we barely take a moment aside just for us to relax. Even when we do find time it can be difficult to get our minds off everything else in our hectic lifestyles, so it can be very helpful to have some kind of relaxation aid. One of the best relaxation aids is music. Music speaks to us in a very personal manner and allows us to lose ourselves, for a few minutes, in its melodies and harmonies. There are many good slow relaxing songs, but be sure to explore different types to find the kind of song that resonates with you.  Here is a list of recommended slow music for relaxation.

Classical Piano

The rhythms, crescendos and decrescendos of classical piano help transport your mind away from any stress or worries of the day. The flowing melodies are almost reminiscent of waves crashing on the beach, washing away any tensions you feel.

Recommendation: Enya is one of the many artists that create relaxing classical piano compositions.

Harp Music

Some scientific studies have shown harp music to be the most effective music for relaxation, stress relief, pain management, and much more. Perhaps it is the combination of the silence between notes or the sound of the slowly fading notes combined with the newly plucked ones, whatever it is harp music is a wonderful way to relax.

Recommendation: Two of the many great CDs for harp music are On Wings of a Dove and The Tranquil Harp.

Traditional Music for Relaxation

Traditional music could be a number of things. For some slow relaxing traditional music would include sung chants and prayers combined with grounding drum beats. For others it could be purely instrumental with flutes or strings.

Recommendation: Global Relaxations is a good CD to figure out which traditional music works best for you as it has a selection of songs from India, Spain, the Andes region, and Zimbabwe. Another popular CD is Shakuhachi Meditation Music: Traditional Japanese Flute for Zen Contemplation.

Guitar

Similar in concept to the harp, acoustic or instrumental guitar can provide you with many wonderful slow relaxation songs.

Recommendation: The Reflections of Beauty series by Michael Zampi translates the beauty and peace of places such as the Rocky Mountains into musical form. Another good guitar album is This Time in Between by David Feder.

There are many good slow songs for relaxation. They are all different, so be sure to explore what musical style works for you. This may vary depending on what else is going on in your life, but having an arsenal of relaxation music to help you decompress from your day is a magnificent gift you can give yourself.
