Rebalancing Solar Plexus Chakra Meditation
All living things, both past and present, have energies. People have seven chakras that act as our energy centers; base, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown. If one of these chakras is closed or damaged it is important to spend some time focusing on it to bring it into alignment. One chakra that many people have problems with is the solar plexus chakra. This is because the solar plexus chakra is responsible for your relationship with yourself and is the seat of your personal power, and many people today feel powerless and worthless. One way to re-balance your solar plexus chakra is through meditation. There are many ways to do this, but below is an introduction to solar plexus meditation to get you started.
Understanding the Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is located just below your ribcage at the center of your waist. Its associated color is a pure, sunshine yellow and its element is fire. Beyond being your seat of power and responsible for your personal relationship, the solar plexus chakra is also associated with the liver. When we are stressed or have experienced a very shocking situation this chakra closes, which in turn causes our liver to not function as well, and can lead to digestive issues. When the chakra is closes or blocked, we also can experience feeling a heavy weight throughout our lives. We can help heal these adverse affects through meditation on the solar plexus chakra.
Bathe in Yellow Light
This first chakra meditation method can be done inside or outside, although some people find it helpful to sit outside in a sunny spot. Breathe deeply, allowing your busy thoughts and concerns melt away. Continue to breathe in an easy manner, and imagine the air you breathe in is a bright, vibrant yellow. Alternatively, you can imagine you are breathing in sunshine. Focus on breathing in the yellow/sunshine air into the front and back of your solar plexus chakra. As your practice progresses, allow this yellow/sunshine light to envelope your entire body until you are sitting in a globe of bright yellow light.
Immerse into Sunflowers
In this solar plexus meditation, you need to focus on a field of sunflowers or wheat. As you breathe use your breath to make this image more real and colorful, until you could feel that you could reach out and touch the flowers or wheat. Once this image has been solidified in your mind, open your eyes if they were closed, and allow yourself to merge with them until you are part of the field. Stay this way as long as you feel you need.
Brighten Your Sun
For this chakra mediation we turn our gaze inward. Breathe several cleansing breaths and bring your focus to your solar plexus. Imagine a glowing, vibrant sun is there and you can feel its warmth and energy radiating into the rest of your body. With each breath allow the sun to brighten and grow. Allow the light and warmth to banish any darkness, fears or doubts that may be lingering. Continue to strengthen this internal sun in your solar plexus until you can feel its power engulfing your entire self. Retain the feelings of power and acceptance in your being as you end your meditation.
There are many ways to practice solar plexus mediation. Some techniques may work better for you than others, but try each new technique daily for at least a week to allow your body to adjust to the various methods.
